A Note on Knighthood

As many of the citizens of WilkeWorld are aware, my real name is Tom Jones. I find that my name is both a curse and a blessing. A curse because about a thousand people a day find it delightful to offer up their best rendition of "My Delilah". A blessing because it is so easy to remember.

Well, today, it is an even more wonderous name than before as I found out that I was officially knighted by the British Royal Crown and now I shall be known here at WilkeWorld as not only the King, but also as Sir K.

The details can be found here. I am especially fond of my namesake's picture in this news blurb. He is the man.

I also find it quite interesting that a man named Tom Jones came into my store yesterday and I helped him find a sofa. Kinda weird if you ask me. The day Tom Jones the singer gets knighted, two of his tocayos meet in a furniture store out of the blue. Strange indeed.

BTW...Tocayo is the Spanish equivalent of namesake.

Sir K? Good grief, we don't have to call you that do we?

And I think it's pretty wild that you met another Tom Jones. FWIW, there another Indigo Blue* in my city, but she spells her name Indygo Blue*. I have yet to meet her, but I was once asked if I was her.

(*not my real name, but just pretend)

If it took the Queen Mother to bestow that honor onto THE TOM JONES, then at least we should hear from the Wife, bestowing that honor upon Tom Jones in her Kingdom. Come on Wifey lower yourself and knight the King so that at least he can be Sir King for at least one night......Love you both......

Though not as famous as Tom Jones, my husband shares his name with actor Brian Keith. He gets that "hey, isn't that a famous actor or something?!" Or "So you're that actor" intended to be funny...makes him crazy! Congrats on being knighted...Brian Keith's claim to fame comes in the form of the original Parent Trap and the fact that he killed himself! I would be much happier to be a knight!

The Guardian (UK newspaper) just put a section of hairy chest + medallion as they're picture of the newly knighted Sir Tom, made me chortle ... just so typical of Mr Jones. Before I got married my name was entirely too close to being Joan Collins ... hours of mindless fun for everyone but me!

So am I just stupid, that I really never knew who Tom Jones was until I met you? I recognize his mug and everything, but I wouldn't win a million dollars if I was posed the question who he was.

Le Laquet, spelling at my age is getting more difficult each day, what I do is mix my favorite potion, I take a bag of cashews, and mix it thoroughly with a good bottle of coke, it seems to make me forget all about the spelling error, hope it works for you.

Dear Wizard, Did you know that a 12 oz. coke has the equivlent of 17 teaspoons of sugar in it? I saw that on the Today show just this morning. I hope you are drinking a diet coke. I love cashews too.

Now, about Sir K! I don't think you will hear me say that again. To me you are just the King. Sorry your heiness, I am not a Tom Jones fan. I do like you the real Tom Jones, but I don't like the singer Tom Jones. Now, if your name was Robert Redford, then I would call you Sir R.

"My Delilah"? Jeesh...I would think it would be..."It's not unusual to be loved by anyone..." That's the one I always think of when I hear Tom Jones.

Lucky you...getting to be a knight. When I worked as a teacher, I met a teenager named Jerry Springer. (real name Jeremy) Felt bad for him.

Lucy, don't get me started on the difference between diet and full strength. All of the chemicals they add to the beverage to make it diet is thrice more harmful that the PURE beverage. Then just as soon as I justify myself in drinking the PURE beverage, I realize that they are both harmful and what am I doing drinking either. I just wished they would make a fruit drink that gave you a little kick for the day.

Wizard, how about some Cranberry juice with a little spritz of lemon?

Yes, I know that the diet drinks are just as bad. I try to drink cold water, but that gets mighty boring after awhile. I will add lemon or lime to it to give it some kick!...
