A Note on Blog Integrity

Citizens of WilkeWorld,

Hear ye, hear ye....

Every so often I have a poignant question to ask of other bloggers and diarists and today is one of those days. Does your blog reflect the real you?

I ask this because I read so many great blogs and I wonder if the people behind the blogs are the people I read about or is there some creative license with your blog identity. Is Michele really the hip, sassy, trendsetter we all seem to think she is or is she some beer swilling trucker hiding in the basement of a Canadian Quonset hut? I think I know the answer to that question, but anonymity allows us a modicum of freedom. How true are you to your blog?

I think I have been true to my real persona here in WilkeWorld. My wife looks at my blog entries with the same disdain as she does me in real life, so I think I'm pretty honest here. I take a little creative license every once in a while, but I hope that I'm about 97% fact and only about 13% fiction (FYI, I always give 110%).

Your thoughts????

Ditto here, mine's all me. For me it's a place to show and share my drawings and connect with other artists. And I hope Michele is everything we believe she is. And thank you for your comment on my blog.

hrm...i think i am pretty true to myself, with just a tad of artistic license in order to make the joke. Besides, no one would ever PRETEND to live the life i do.

Trust me. If I were to make it up, it would be interesting.

I'm still fairly new to blogging, but I think that it reflects who I am. It's almost more of a journal that I let strangers read than anything else.

Yep! Mine is what it is and all of it is me, myself, & I, right down to the songs I'm singin' :) Granny always said "If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember your lies", lol!

I am who I am, whether blogging or not. Though it's easier for me to say things on my blog, since I'm kinda shy IRL.

Here via Michele's tonight :)

My blog is 100% me. I think this if funny though because yesterday Hubby said that he liked my 'fake' conversation on my blog. Fake? That was a real conversation!!! Hmmm, wonder what the means?

I exaggerate for effect, at times, but the essence of my blog is the essence of me, if that makes sense.

It's not a journal. It's not particularly deep or private. And I think one must assume that most bloggers are the heroes of their own stories (which is fine, really).

Okay, Okay, already. You caught me. I am really, and closed-minded, near-sighted, Democrat, anti-mormon, single-woman from Idaho. I am simply trying to infultrate the Utah Mormon culture....

Nah. What you read (at my blog), is pretty much what you get. A loud-mouthed, know-it-all, who tries to be funny, but really ends up boring people.

You sometimes make entries on your blog, and I wonder, "Who is the person, I don't even know him." At those times I must be in the 13th % of the time you are not your real self.....Lets talk about the tongue thing, don't you even talk about that it may be genetics....How do you think of all these blogs?

My blog is all me. A louder, brasher version of who I am in real life but that's only because I have control issues. :)

Although the world of the computer blog is fairly new to me, blogging comes natural because I have kept a private daily journal for close to 30 years and my blog is mostly a public extention of that.

While I hold some things private, I'm a simple guy with no secrets.

To avoid being a gossip, I shield identities whenever I mention anyone whose path crosses mine.

The blog/journal records my own joys, temptations, and failures along with tiny, simple triumphs that satisfy me. "I saw a loggerhead shrike today".

I do try to be honest but at the same time I deliberately look for the humor in life. I poke fun at my own faith or lack of it, but never at anyone else's.... Hell, I've forgotten what the question was!!!

Anyhow, over the years, all too many of my journal entries simply read, "Another wasted day in a wasted life"! What's to lie about?

My blog is only half of the real me. There are two halves of me, with very different friends, aquaintances, etc. and my blog is for the less conservative half. The other half of me is a former minister who fully believed everything I said and taught. But see...there's this other side...! :)

Me, me, me . . .except a little funnier. I hope.

Lately though I'll admit that I've been feeling more constrained by the readership. I know that people that I volunteer with, that my husband works with, and that are related to me are all reading it. So now, I've been feeling more inhibited. What I do post is ME, but there's a lot that I don't, but that I'd like to. I'm tempted to close Fighting Inertia and start a new blog where no one knows my identity.

The very core of your writing while appearing reasonable initially, did not really work well with me after some time. Somewhere throughout the paragraphs you were able to make me a believer unfortunately only for a while. I however have a problem with your jumps in logic and you might do nicely to help fill in all those gaps. In the event you can accomplish that, I could undoubtedly be impressed.
